Since Angeles Crest Engineering LLC (ACE) opened in 1997, we have successfully developed, designed, and qualified hardware for numerous spacecraft and launch vehicle systems. Our customers have included Aerojet, BAE Systems, Boeing, Hamilton Sundstrand, Lockheed Martin, NASA, Northrop Grumman, Orbital Sciences and SpaceX. ACE is owned by Dr. Nicholas Moore and Dr. Saravan Sutharshana.

Nicholas R. Moore, PhD

Dr. Moore is a co-owner of ACE. Prior to ACE, he was a member of the technical staff at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Pasadena CA for 24 years.. He has over 50 years of experience in research, development, design and analysis of mechanical, fluid, and thermal systems for defense and aerospace applications. His major interests are in the development of advanced mechanical, thermal, and fluid systems through the integration of experimentation and analysis. Dr. Moore has made major contributions to the development and application of probabilistic methods in engineering design and analysis. He was a post-doctoral fellow at the California Institute of Technology. He was granted the Ph.D. degree in Engineering by the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville in 1972.

Saravan Sutharshana, PhD, PE

Dr. Sutharshana is a co-owner of ACE. Prior to ACE, he was a member of the technical staff at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Pasadena CA. His expertise encompasses spacecraft stress and dynamic analyses, pressure vessel design, and fracture control. He has made major contributions to the development and application of probabilistic methods in engineering design and analysis. Dr. Sutharshana played a leading role in the development and implementation of Space Shuttle Payload Fracture Control requirements. He has worked in the automobile industry on fatigue and fracture of vehicle structures. He is a registered professional engineer and holds a Ph.D. (1985) from Cornell University and MSc (1981) and BSc (1979) degrees from University of Manchester, UK.
